When Skies Are Gray...At this point of brokenness, the girl cried on the shower floor, the glass walls enveloping her in a transparent rainstorm, one that felt intimate and that she welcomed. The rain spewing from the shower head was scalding, burning, nearly boiling, and in the heat, she scrubbed her own skin red and raw, hoping for blood, not stopping until she had completely erased the filth that was her own skin. It had to go. Everything on the outside, all that mocked her in the mirror, had to be peeled and flowed in the endless creek down the drain. Otherwise, she could never be clean. The soap bar was crisp thin at this point, and as she rubbed it against her limbs and breasts, was shrank away even more.
